In 2021 The Lisa Gasteen National Opera Program in association with Victorian Opera will present Otto Nicolai’s ‘Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor (The Merry Wives of Windsor)’, a hilarious romp based on Shakespeare’s Falstaff (Henry IV – Parts 1 & 2).
Our month-long Program will culminate in two performances on December 3rd and 4th, 2021 at the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall – Melbourne Recital Centre.
Our collaboration with this respected opera company, allows LGNOP to further expand opportunities for emerging Australian professional artists by offering performance experience within established artistic institutions.
Conducted by Johannes Fritzsch, Directed and Adapted by Heather Fairbairn, and accompanied by the Orchestra Ensemble Q.
Our 2021 Program will run from Monday the 8th of November until Sunday the 5th of December 2021.
The Program will be conducted at the Victorian Opera Studios in Horticultural Hall, Melbourne, Victoria.
Applications for all Principal Roles are now open.
Applications close Friday 5th of February 2021.
Participation in the Program is open only to Australian and New Zealand Residents.
Applicants will be contacted after February 5th, 2021 regarding the outcome of their application.
Live auditions will be held nationally in March 2021.
If live auditions are not an option due to COVID-19 restrictions, digital alternatives will be arranged.
Victorian Opera will oversee the chorus.
Ensemble Q will select the orchestra.
All artists will be paid an appropriate fee for their work within The Program.
This includes Per Diems, Accommodation and Travel Expenses for those artists relocating for the duration of The Program.
We ask that you pass this information onto any emerging professional singers that you believe will benefit from our Program.
