Ring Report January 2016
The busy Ring year has started and “our” presenters and performers are in full preparation.
Heath Lees has been able to get permission from Opera Australia to use stills and clips from their Ring in his new “Exploring the Ring” sessions. This will provide a great hint for those new to the Melbourne Ring and a wonderful reminder for Ring returnees.
Liane Keegan has sent a brief update: “I am eagerly revising my roles for the rehearsals starting in September and I look forward to reprising the Role of Erda, a role very dear to my heart. I am also delighted that I am being sponsored by The Wagner Society of Victoria and am so very happy to be performing in the Ring finally in my home town of Melbourne.”
Bradley Daley is working hard as well: “As far as preparation for Siegmund is going…basically, what I call the “note bashing stage is done” (which means all the notes and rhythms for Siegmund are securely under my belt. I am now building stamina and starting to sing the entire role through more fluently. Here the fun begins, the process of unlocking the clues that Wagner has weaved into his score which will enable me to interpret my character and add the necessary colours to my voice. Naturally this will help the memorising process as I delve.”
Ballot winners have received their tickets and many members took the opportunity to apply in the special booking period for our Society.
We are currently in discussion with Opera Australia to arrange some other special events for members and details will be sent as soon as possible.
