Victorian Opera has invited Wagnerian expert Dr Peter Bassett to present an in-depth talk about Parsifal, which will take audiences deeper into this masterwork before seeing it performed.
Parsifal was Richard Wagner’s last work for the stage and it was his most beautiful and moving achievement. To convey its subtle and mystical ideas, Wagner wrote music that was decades ahead of its time. Dr Bassett will examine the drama’s diverse sources, its breathtaking musical and philosophical ideas, characters who have become victims of their own desires, and the overwhelming importance of compassion. Parsifal speaks powerfully to our modern world and fills us with hope.
Join Victorian Opera and Dr Bassett in exploring this sublime work.
